Weekend rule: When New Year's Day, Canada Day, Christmas and other fixed-date holidays fall on a weekend, most employers give the next working day off. We show that day as "observed". The exact rule depends on your employer.
Statutory holidays depend on your province or territory, and federally regulated workplaces (banks, airlines, telecoms) follow the Canada Labour Code. When a fixed-date holiday falls on a weekend, most employers give the next working day off; the exact rule depends on your employer.

Employers can give extra days off, and some workers are covered by different rules. If a date matters for pay or a legal deadline, confirm it with your employer or the official source.
