Weekend rule: When New Year's Day, Canada Day, Christmas and other fixed-date holidays fall on a weekend, most employers give the next working day off. We show that day as "observed". The exact rule depends on your employer.
Note: These are the six paid holidays under the Labour Standards Act. Provincial government offices also close for St. Patrick's Day, St. George's Day, Discovery Day, Orangemen's Day and others.
