Why Eid can differ by a day
Islamic months begin with the sighting of the new moon, which can differ from country to country. That is why Nigeria, Kenya and the Philippines announce their Eid holidays only days or weeks before. Our holiday lists show those days as “not announced yet” until the official declaration, so a business-day count is never based on a guess.
