Australian Public Holidays 2027 by State and Territory
Australia has eight sets of public holidays, one for each state and territory. In 2027 they range from 8 weekday days off in Tasmania to 11 in the ACT, once the additional days for Christmas and Boxing Day are included.
Key facts
- Christmas (Saturday) and Boxing Day (Sunday) 2027 bring additional public holidays on Monday, December 27 and Tuesday, December 28 in every state.
- Anzac Day 2027 is a Sunday: NSW, Queensland, WA, the ACT and the NT add Monday, April 26; Victoria, SA and Tasmania do not.
- Victoria’s Friday before the AFL Grand Final is set once the AFL fixture is released.
2027 by state and territory
“Public holidays” includes Easter Saturday and Sunday where they are public holidays; “weekday days off” counts only Monday to Friday.

King’s Birthday is not on the same day everywhere
Most states mark the King’s Birthday on the second Monday of June (June 14, 2027). Queensland uses the first Monday of October (October 4) and Western Australia the last Monday of September (September 27), with some regional areas in WA choosing another date.
Part-day holidays
South Australia and the Northern Territory have part-day public holidays from 7pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and Queensland from 6pm on Christmas Eve. They matter for penalty rates but are not full days off, so our counts leave them out.
Your state’s dates
Each state has its own page, such as Victoria 2027 and Western Australia 2027, and the business days calculator uses your state automatically.
